His love for the car stems from the fact that it was the first car he bought with his own money, which he built while playing cliquet professionally. In his interview on a popular TV show, Sachin mentioned that he would love to get his first car back. It was Imtiaz’s first car and he recently revived the memory of it by sharing a picture on Instagram while riding on a highway. The car seen in the picture is the Maruti 800 hatchback, a new model from the company that was launched in 1997 with some significant changes. The company sold more than 26 lakh units of the car in various models during its 31 years. It was a favorite car for many Indian families and can still be seen running around, though rarely.

Harpal Singh and his wife were the first proud owners of the car, which earned them celebrity status in India. In 1983, Mr and Mrs Harpal Singh bought the first Maruti 800 for Rs 47,500 and received the car keys directly from Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. The couple continued to use the same car throughout their lifetime. Recently, Malayalam superstar Mammootty bought the same car from Harpal Singh’s family. That car still carries the old value as the first Maruti 800 to be sold. “It is not just a car; In an interview to Mathrubhumi, Mammootty said, it is the four wheeler miracle that brought a vehicle revolution for the common man. “I still remember the day the car was handed over to Harpal Singh and the news after that.
