New Delhi: The Center has asked the state governments to take immediate steps to identify illegal Bangladeshi migrants living in India.
Union Minister of State for Home Nityananda Opinion It also said that 2,399 Bangladeshi nationals were apprehended and found using Indian documents obtained fraudulently in the last five years.
“The Central Government has issued instructions to the State Governments and Union Territory To take appropriate prompt steps for identification of illegal migrants,” he said in a written reply to a question.
The Minister said that the States and Union Territories to take legal action including detaining illegal migrants at designated places as per the provisions of the law, capturing their biographical and biometric details, canceling fake Indian documents and initiating deportation proceedings. was also said.
Rai said that states have also been advised to share the details of illegal migrants who have received wrongly Base Card for appropriate legal action.
The State Governments have been further advised to cancel any identity document fraudulently obtained by illegal migrants, viz. voter cardDriving license, ration card etc, he said.
