Center bans Jammu and Kashmir-based proxy organization People’s Anti-Fascist-Front

The Center on Friday declared the People’s Anti-Fascist-Front as a terrorist organisation.

The Center on Friday declared People’s Anti-Fascist-Front (PAFF), the proxy organization of banned terror group Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), and all its manifestations and front organizations as ‘terrorist’ organizations under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. (Prevention) Act 1967.

PAFF emerged in the year 2019 as a proxy organization of JeM, a banned terrorist organization listed at serial number 6 of the first schedule under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act 1967.

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) made the announcement through a notification, stating that “PAFF regularly issues threats to Indian security forces, political leaders, citizens from other states working in J&K”.

According to the MHA, PAFF is involved in “actively conspiring physically and in social media to carry out violent terrorist acts and acts of terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir and other major cities of India”.

“PAFF along with other organizations is involved in radicalization of impressionable youth with the objective of recruitment and training in handling of guns, ammunition and explosives,” the MHA said.

Taking cognizance of the activities, the Ministry of Home Affairs notification stated that the Central Government is of the view that the ‘People’s Anti-Fascist-Front (PAFF)’ is involved in terrorism and has declared various acts of terrorism in India and under section 35. Has committed the acts and participated in it. UAPA “in the First Schedule to the said Act, in serial number 6, after the words “Tehreek-e-Furqan”, the words and brackets “/People’s Anti-Fascist-Front (PAFF) and all its manifestations and front organizations”, shall be inserted “
