Agrasen Gehlot and some others linked to alleged irregularities in fertilizer exports

The brother of Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has been again summoned by the Enforcement Directorate for questioning in a case of illegal export of fertilizers. Agrasen Gehlot has been asked to come to the probe agency’s office in Delhi tomorrow.
Sources said Gehlot along with his lawyers will visit the headquarters of the Enforcement Directorate in the national capital. Mr Gehlot had also appeared before the Enforcement Directorate in Delhi last month.
He and a few others are linked to alleged irregularities in fertilizer exports. He was earlier questioned in this case, but he had approached the court seeking relief from the probe agency’s action.
The Rajasthan High Court recently asked him to cooperate with the agency in the investigation and directed the Enforcement Directorate not to take any coercive action against him.
The agency had raided his business in Rajasthan in July last year. The raids came amid a political battle between Ashok Gehlot and his then deputy Sachin Pilot in the state. The ruling Congress in the state had said that it would not be intimidated by such actions of central investigative agencies.
Gehlot’s son Anupam had also presented his case in front of the agency in the matter.
The probe agency’s action comes after registering a criminal case last year based on the Customs Department’s case of 2007-09 alleging irregularities in the purchase and export of subsidized muriate or MOP for farmers and this case The investigation was finalized in 2013.
