chatgpt temporarily banned on stackoverflow for giving wrong answer

Stack Overflow, the coding and programming question-and-answer site, has temporarily banned the AI-powered ChatGPT chatbot. The site claims that the AI is posting incorrect answers and that it can be “significantly harmful” to the site and its users. The number of correct answers generated by ChatGPT is very less. And hence, it has been temporarily banned. ChatGPT is a chatbot designed to answer questions in a conversational manner. These AIs can answer questions related to cooking recipes, coding tips, etc.

according to a Post Per Stack Overflow, the ban is temporary and a final decision will be taken in the future after consultation with its community. It states that ChatGPT produces a high rate of wrong answers. The problem, however, is that the answers appear to be nice and correct, but upon closer examination they appear to be wrong.

The site seeks to reduce the volume of these posts and therefore, does not allow the use of ChatGPT to create posts. The website has also asked to ban users who may have used ChatGPT to make posts after this temporary ban comes into effect. It said, “If it is believed that a user has accessed ChatGPT after this temporary policy is posted, sanctions will be imposed to prevent users from posting such content, even if the posts are otherwise acceptable.”

Many users seem happy with the decision and have shared their views in the comments section of the post on Stack Overflow.

Meanwhile, based in San Francisco OpenAI The ChatGPT chatbot was made available free of charge to the public for testing on 30 November. And within a week, more than a million users had tried the tool to bring it up for discussion. It can also be used for digital marketing, online content creation, answering customer service questions, or helping with code debugging.
