Petrol and diesel prices remained stable for more than four months on Thursday, October 13, 2022. Fuel prices in India have remained stable ever since Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on May 21 announced a reduction in excise duty by Rs 8 per liter on petrol and Rs 6 per liter on diesel. Later, the Maharashtra government announced Value Added Tax (VAT). Reduction of Rs 5 and Rs 3 per liter on petrol and diesel respectively.
On August 24, the Meghalaya government revised the rates of petrol and diesel. Petrol now costs Rs 96.83 per liter in Shillong, while diesel costs Rs 84.72 per litre. Petrol in Delhi costs Rs 96.72 per liter, while diesel is being sold at Rs 89.62 per litre. The price of petrol and diesel in Mumbai is Rs 106.31 and Rs 94.27 per liter respectively.
