Chelsea are reportedly keen to sell Edouard Mendy to make room for Andre Onana

Chelsea are interested in signing goalkeeper Andre Onana from Inter Milan in the upcoming summer transfer window. According to a report in the Daily Telegraph, the London giants will have to pay a £40 million signing bonus to Inter in order to gain Onana’s services. The report claims the Cameroon international’s salary would be in line with Chelsea’s wage structure. The Blues are reportedly keen to sell Edouard Mendy to make room for Onana.

According to Mendy’s current contract, the 31-year-old will be free to move in the summer and the club have failed to extend his contract. Chelsea will also consider making a bid for first-team goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga. Given the Spaniard’s high wages, the club should prepare for the possibility that he could decide to stay at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea are on the lookout for a new permanent boss following the departure of Graham Potter. The club is confident of finalizing a deal with Mauricio Pochettino to become the next head coach. Potter was succeeded by former boss Frank Lampard who took over as manager of Chelsea and will remain in the position until the end of the season.

Tottenham Hotspur are also looking for a new manager for the upcoming season with Pochettino on their shortlist. Speaking to talkSPORT, Spurs legend Ricky Villa urged Pochettino to return to his former club. Villa further stated that he was aware of Chelsea’s offer and that only the Argentine coach could make the final decision. With their derby rivals interested in Pochettino, Chelsea chairman Todd Bohly will need to make a quick move to complete the deal.

Chelsea will look to rework their attacking line. Pierre-Emerick-Aubameyang is likely to leave in the next transfer window. Chelsea are one of the teams keeping an eye on Atalanta striker Rasmus Hojlund, in addition to being interested in Napoli forward Victor Osimhen.

Højlund, who has scored seven goals in Serie A this season and scored five for Denmark, has also come under the radar of another Premier League club, Manchester United. Chelsea are considering Harry Kane as a new striker after the England captain spent a significant period of his career under Pochettino.
