PNS Taimur which is built at Dong port in Shanghai, China and is expected to reach Karachi on August 15. The warship also participated in exercises in Malaysia and Cambodia along with a visit to Karachi.
The ship was commissioned by the Pakistan Navy at China’s Hudong Zhonghua (HZ) shipyard, the Pakistani Navy said on June 23. PNS Taimur is the second of four Type 054 A/P frigates built for the Pakistan Navy.
As reported by Sri Lankan daily Ceylon Today, the first 054 A/P frigate PNS Tugril joined the PN fleet in January 2022, while the other two frigates of the same class are currently under construction in China.
PNS Taimur is a technologically advanced and highly capable maritime asset with hi-tech weapons and sensors, latest warfare management and electronic warfare systems to fight in a multi-threat environment.
