Beijing:

A local COVID-19 case has prompted a Chinese border town next to Vietnam to order its residents to stay at home, halt public transport and some school classes and allow passengers and passengers to pass through its port of entry. Clearing of cargo is postponed.

After several smaller border towns with fewer health resources than larger cities in the past three months, China has increased COVID-19 vigil at its borders and ports to prevent the virus from being brought from sources from abroad.

The city of Dongxing in the autonomous Chinese region of Guangxi, which has a population of more than 200,000, from Wednesday called on all its residents to stay at home and avoid going out unnecessarily, state broadcaster CCTV reported.

Dongxing took the measures after detecting a domestically transmitted infection with confirmed symptoms during routine testing.

According to CCTV, the city has also suspended public transport services, closed all tourist spots, cinemas and other entertainment venues and cut face-to-face school classes in primary and secondary schools and kindergartens.

Its port of entry has suspended the evacuation of passengers and cargo from Tuesday as part of the city’s virus control effort.

CCTV said export and import of cargo should be planned immediately to avoid losses due to waiting.

China has ordered travel agencies to stop arranging group tourist trips between border cities, overland ports of entry and areas outside the provinces where the cities are located as of March 15, except for cities connected to Hong Kong and Macau. except ports.
