‘Cinderella’ movie review: Camila Cabello picks out little millennial fairy dust

The director’s canon builds his princess into a career woman with dreams of making it big as a designer – with song, dance and everything in between

Who doesn’t love comfort food? Sometimes it’s okay to eat fry, Dal rice, Samosa, biryani Or rasam-Rice. The security blanket offered by these familiar foods is its own reward. An un-deconstructed fairy tale is the best kind of comfort food. The story of Cinderella of a neglected, misused girl hitting the jackpot while the wicked get their sweets is as satisfying as an All Saints sugar donut.

Disney’s Live Action cinderella (2015) with Lily James as Cinderella, Cate Blanchett as the stepmother and Helena Bonham Carter as the Fairy Godmother was directed by Kenneth Branagh and the broad outline of the story as it does one. Kay canon playing this latest version incorporates song and dance and turns Cinderella (Camila Cabello) into a career woman who dreams of making it big as a designer.

The songs, pop and rock hits and original songs are passionate. The actors are in step and are definitely having fun. Later Mama Mia, Here Pierce Brosnan is singing as the stuffed King Rowan again to the amusement of his Queen (Mini Driver). Prince Robert (Nicholas Galitzine) would rather travel the world with his love than rule the kingdom, which his sister, Princess Gwen (Tallula Greve), is better suited to do anyway. The Fairy Godmother has a gender swap and Billy Porter as Vivian is a fabulous fab g. Idina makes up for Menzel, the mean stepmother has her own story of mourning and original lyrics, while half-sisters Malvolia (Maddie Ballio) and Narissa (Charlotte Spencer) don’t try too hard to be evil.
