A civilian was killed and a soldier was injured during an encounter between security forces and hiding terrorists in Kulgam in south Kashmir on Friday. However, the terrorists managed to escape from the encounter site.

Police said the injured civilian succumbed to his injuries while the injured soldier was undergoing treatment at the 92 Base Hospital in Srinagar.

The deceased citizen has been identified as Manzoor Lone, a resident of Redwani Bala.

The injured jawan has been identified as Kiran Singh of Army’s 1RR.

Officials said that contact with the hiding militants could not be re-established after the initial exchange of fire.

Meanwhile, Additional Director General (ADGP) Vijay Kumar said that the police have identified two Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists behind the attack on non-local laborers on Thursday. One murder of non-local laborer And two others were injured in the Pulwama attack.
