ClassAct: HT R-Day quiz creates history

The preliminary round of ClassAct 2023 – The Hindustan Times Republic Day Quiz, on January 26 recorded an all-time high participation of 21,540 students as compared to 19,625 students for ClassAct 2022, which took the annual mega quizzing event of HT School ahead. The finale of ClassAct 2023 is scheduled on 5th February and will be hosted by quizmasters Naveen Jayakumar and Avinash Mudaliar. “After last year’s record-setting participation in ClassAct, we were hopeful that turnout would increase somewhat this year. We are delighted that this happened and would like to thank all the children who participated and made it a success. Quizzing has always been a popular brain sport and it is great to see Gen Z taking it up with such passion. I look forward to seeing him in action again in the national final on February 5,” Mudaliar said.

The preliminary round was an individual programme, open to students from classes 1 to 12, and covered a wide range of subjects such as history, science, geography, arts and entertainment, literature, language and culture. Contestants had to answer 60 questions, of which 28 were multiple choice questions. While 21,540 participants took part in the round, 40,486 had initially registered for the quiz.

“I am happy but not at all surprised to know that such a large number of people participated. The fact that children want to spend their day out of school by participating in Republic Day Quiz proves that young India is a world of inquisitive minds. is full of,” Jayakumar said.

The preliminary round was held asynchronously, but the finale would take place over Zoom. And it will be live-streamed on the official YouTube channel of HT School. The names of the top 100 scorers of the preliminary exam will be announced soon, and they will participate in the final. The winners will be selected based on their performance, and both speed and accuracy will be taken into account.
