CLAT 2023 registration begins tomorrow, documents required

The National Association of Law Universities is likely to start the registration process for the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) 2023 from tomorrow, August 8, 2022. Interested candidates may apply online through the official website of CNLU – consortiumofnlus.ac.in. Candidates must note that the CLAT 2023 exam will be conducted on December 18, 2022.

Those willing to apply for CLAT 2023 need to register by applying with the following documents.

Candidates who wish to apply for CLAT 2023 must keep the following documents handy:

Scanned copy of recent passport size photograph in front with a plain background

Scanned Signature of the candidate

Category certificate for SC/ ST/ OBC or PWD candidates

BPL certificate (if applicable)

This year’s CLAT exam will be held on December 18, 2022 in offline mode. To be eligible to appear in the exam, candidates must have scored at least 45 percent grade point average in class 12th. For postgraduate programs candidates must have at least 50% graduation average. As per the syllabus, the exam will consist of questions based on Logical Reasoning, Legal Reasoning, Current Affairs and English Language.

CLAT is a national level entrance exam conducted by the consortium for admission to 22 NLUs participating in undergraduate and postgraduate law courses. Additionally, PSUs and self-financed law institutes also consider CLAT results in their recruitment processes.

The exam will have 150 multiple choice questions, which will follow the CLAT 2023 Exam Format (MCQs). One mark will be awarded for each appropriate response and 0.25 marks will be deducted for each inappropriate response. Only English will be used in the question paper of CLAT.

Around 3,000 undergraduate seats and 1,000 seats are available for the LLM program in various National Law Universities (NLUs). Currently, the five-year LLB degree is offered by all 22 participating NLUs, although LLM courses are offered by only 19 participating NLUs.
