CM Gehlot’s son’s name surfaced in fraud case, BJP seeks clarification

The Rajasthan BJP on Saturday accused Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot’s son of being involved in cheating, while he said more such allegations would come to the fore as elections near. Citing a video clip of a Marathi news channel, which said that an FIR was lodged against Vaibhav Gehlot and Gujarat Congress worker Sachin Purushottam Valera, BJP state president Satish Poonia sought an explanation from the chief minister on the matter.

According to the report, Vaibhav Gehlot, president of the Rajasthan Cricket Association, is accused of cheating in approving a tender for a project with the state tourism department. An FIR has been registered against 14 people including Vaibhav and Valera on March 17 in Nashik, Maharashtra. Complainant Sushil Bhalchandra Patil has alleged that Valera, who introduced himself as close to the chief minister’s son, fraudulently received Rs 6.80 crore from him. He was promised a contract from the Rajasthan government.
