Coal India Ltd’s production up 6.4%; power jump supply

Last year in the same month the production of Coal India Limited was 46.8 MT

State-owned CIL on Monday said its coal production rose 6.4 per cent year-on-year to 49.8 million tonnes (MT) in October.

The development assumes significance in view of the power plants facing fuel shortage.

Coal India Limited’s production in the same month last year stood at 46.8 MT, the company said in a BSE filing.

CIL also said that the supply to power producers grew 23% year-on-year to 48.2 MT in October in view of focused efforts to consolidate the depleting stocks of dry fuel in the country’s power generating utilities.
