The researchers (of the latest study) conducted a test on groups of male rats over a period of 15 days. While the first group was given only water, the remaining groups drank varying amounts of Coca-Cola and Pepsi. During this period, the researchers took their blood tests, checked their weight, and measured the diameter of their testicles.

It was found that by day 15 there was a “significant increase” in the group of rats that drank the carbonated drink. Furthermore, it was also found that higher doses of the drink also improved testosterone secretion in male rats. According to researchers, it can help prevent prostate dysfunction in men.

“Our findings provide a scientific basis for a more complete understanding [carbonated beverages] effects and their mechanisms on the growth and reproductive functions of humans,” said the study authors.
