Coimbatore Corporation gets vehicles, shredding machines to process garden waste

In order to process the fallen parts of trees that accumulate in city parks and on roads, the Coimbatore Corporation got two tractors and shredding equipment through corporate sponsorship.

A civic body release said Brookfields Mall had sponsored vehicles and equipment worth Rs 30 lakh and its chief executive officer Ashwin Balasubramaniam presented them to Mayor Kalpana Anandakumar at an event held at Saibaba Colony in Ward 69 .

Commissioner Raja Gopal Sunkara, Ward 69 Councilor PS Saravankumar and other officials were present.

The corporation will use tractors and shredding equipment to process garden and other waste locally and use it as manure for plants in parks, the release said. This will eliminate the need for the corporation to take those wastes to the Vellore dump yard. And, thus helps the corporation to save on the fuel required for transportation.
