College admissions start even after CBSE 12th results, board asks UGC to intervene

Even though millions of students are waiting for them central board of secondary education (CBSE) Class 12 Result, many colleges have started their college admission process. To ensure that students are not left behind, CBSE has approached the higher education regulator on universities starting admissions to undergraduate programs without waiting for the declaration of their Class 12 results.

The board has asked the University Grants Commission (UGC) to instruct all higher education institutions to plan their admission calendar keeping in mind the date of declaration of CBSE results. UGC sources claim that the authority will send a warning to all universities next week.

CBSE took this step after several educational institutions including Mumbai University (MU) started admissions for undergraduate programmes. Till now, MU has released two merit list for college admission, this worries many students who are waiting for their result. Students claim that due to delay CBSE As a result they will lose seats and good colleges. Not only Maharashtra, all the arts, science and engineering colleges in Tamil Nadu had started their admission process after the declaration of the state board results on June 20.

In a letter dated 28 June to the UGC, the board wrote, “It has come to notice that some universities in India, especially in Maharashtra, have started registration in undergraduate courses for the session (2022-’23) and their last date.” It is in the first week of July. Therefore, it is requested that all the universities may be directed to fix the last date of their undergraduate admission process keeping in view the date of declaration of result of class XII by CBSE. It also said that it needs about a month’s time to prepare the results.

This year CBSE had conducted the 10th and 12th exams in a new format. Instead of the annual examination system, this time the board examination was conducted in two words for each class. Whereas in Term 1, students had to answer objective questions, in Term 2 the exam was subjective.
