He was speaking after inaugurating the 36th Inter-University North Zone Youth Festival ‘Antarnad’ at Jammu University.

Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Tuesday said that cultural and creative activities inspire students to excel, ignite minds and nurture civilizational heritage for our future generations.

He was speaking after inaugurating the 36th Inter University North Zone Youth Festival ‘Antarnad’ at Jammu University here.

He said that artistic disciplines are like windows that open up to an infinite universe of creativity for the youth.

A five-day youth festival is being organized by the university under the aegis of Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi.

Sinha said, “Cultural and creative activities inspire students to excel, nurture talents, ignite minds and nurture civilizational heritage for our future generations.”

“Music, dance, fine arts, theater and literature encourage students to sharpen their thoughts and expand creative horizons,” he added.

The Lt Governor encouraged the youth to hone their artistic skills and inspire others with their creativity.

“Artistic expressions are sources of intellectual inspiration. I would like to see the students transform themselves into ‘Triveni’- a confluence of knowledge, science and art, a balanced personality with a spirit of inquisitive, calm, peaceful and dynamic,” said the lieutenant governor. Sinha also highlighted the important role of universities in nurturing the talent of the young generation.

“The path to the prosperity of the society passes through the educational institutions. Antarnad means the voice of the inner soul. Artistic disciplines will provide new insights to our youth for innovation, new inventions. He said that our cultural history, lifestyle, social settings are all integrated.

“If knowledge and science are the body, then art is the mind. It is the perfect harmony between the two that forms the foundation for the development of any nation.”

Sinha said that under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the National Education Policy has redefined the entire education system.

It promotes innovation and creativity and motivates students to participate in research and creative activities, said the Lt Governor.

The Lt Governor also sought active participation of universities in J&K and participation of students in the preparation of the upcoming G20 event in J&K.
