In a big pitch by top BJP leaders in Purvanchal (East) region of Uttar Pradesh, Union Home Minister Amit Shah Will be in Varanasi and Azamgarh for two days next week to review BJP’s election preparedness and soon after Prime Minister Narendra Modi The state’s longest Purvanchal Expressway can be inaugurated from Sultanpur.
Purvanchal Expressway is a showpiece project of Yogi Adityanath government to connect Lucknow with Eastern UP. Sources in the Uttar Pradesh government told News18 that the PM may inaugurate the project from Sultanpur district on November 15 or any day depending on his availability. A 3 km long airstrip will be built on this expressway in Sultanpur district.

Meanwhile, Amit Shah is expected to be in Varanasi and Azamgarh on November 12 and 13. The visit will assume significance as Shah will hold a rally in Azamgarh, the constituency of the Samajwadi Party leader. Akhilesh Yadav. Yadav and his new alliance partner Om Prakash Rajbhar held a massive rally in Mau last week and the Samajwadi Party claims the alliance will harm the BJP in eastern UP.
The entire top BJP leader in the state, including Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, both deputy chief ministers, state in-charge Dharmendra Pradhan and Radha Mohan Singh as well as BJP’s co-in-charge in UP will be in Varanasi with Shah. The Home Minister is expected to arrive on November 12 and stay for two days.
Shah will preside over the first-ever All India Official Language Conference in Varanasi on November 13 and lay the foundation stone of a university in Azamgarh on the same day, where he will also hold a public rally. Shah is expected to hold discussions with BJP leaders in Varanasi on November 12 about the party’s strategy in eastern UP.
Shah’s pitch in Azamgarh
The BJP is aiming to make a big statement with Shah’s visit and rally in Azamgarh as the cornerstone of a state university project that has been demanded for a long time. The project had not seen the light of day during the tenure of Akhilesh Yadav as Chief Minister, who is now the MP from Azamgarh.

Recently Om Prakash Rajbhar’s visit to meet gangster-MLA Mukhtar Ansari in jail And the ticket offer to him is another issue which the BJP will strongly raise during Shah’s visit. Ansari is an MLA from Mau near Azamgarh in eastern UP. The BJP will quote this as the continued support of SP criminals and gangsters and the politics of Muslim appeasement.

Varanasi and Purvanchal
Purvanchal has been a BJP stronghold since 2014, with PM Modi winning Varanasi twice in 2014 and 2019 with a huge margin and CM Yogi Adityanath making Gorakhpur his stronghold. PM Modi visited Varanasi earlier this month to unveil projects worth Rs 5,000 crore and also launched the Rs 64,000 crore National Health Scheme from Varanasi.
Party functionaries said BJP leaders and in-charge of entire eastern Uttar Pradesh are expected to attend Shah’s long strategy meeting on November 12. The BJP’s alliance with Anupriya Patel’s Apna Dal has been a key factor in eastern Uttar Pradesh in the past. Just last week, Shah had gone to Lucknow for meetings.
