Commonwealth Games 2022: Indian women’s hockey team leaves for Birmingham Commonwealth Games

The Indian women’s hockey team left for London, England from Barcelona on Monday morning. Upon arrival in London, the national side will take a bus to Nottingham, England. The team will conduct a final preparatory camp for the Commonwealth Games 2022 in Nottingham before leaving for Birmingham on 23 July 2022 to participate in the Commonwealth Games.

Indian team finished joint ninth with China in FIH Hockey Women’s World The Cup Spain and Netherlands 2022, which was played from 01 July 2022 to 17 July 2022. Indian women’s hockey team captain Savita expressed that the national side is determined to change its form, “Unfortunately, we could not play to our potential. FIH Hockey Women’s World Cup Spain and Netherlands 2022, but we are very determined to change our form in Commonwealth Games 2022. We have a great team with a great balance of experienced and young players. We will make a fresh start at the Commonwealth Games 2022 and I am sure we will be able to face the best teams in the competition.

Savita said that the team will work on some aspects of their game before the start of the competition, “We have to improve some aspects of our game and we will focus on that in the lead up to the Commonwealth Games 2022. I think we are playing well, but we need to change a few things in our game to start winning games consistently.

The Indian women’s hockey team will face Ghana in their first match of the Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham on 29 July 2022 at 1830 IST.
