Indian women’s hockey team defender Deep Grace Ekka says competing against strong teams in the Netherlands during the upcoming phase of the FIH Pro League will help the team adapt to the conditions as well as prepare for it. World Cup in July

India is set to play against Belgium, Argentina, Netherlands and the United States of America in the FIH Hockey Pro League this month.

“We have a busy schedule ahead of the FIH Hockey Women’s World Cup 2022, and we look forward to it because the more games we play against stronger teams, the better prepared we are for the tournament. ,” said Ekka in hockey India release.

“Everyone is focusing on their fitness and the post-match recovery process to prepare for the tournament.

“The upcoming FIH Hockey Pro League 2021/22 games are a great platform as they will also help us adapt to the conditions there.”

India have been placed in Pool B along with England, China and New Zealand in the Hockey World Cup starting July 1 in the Netherlands and Spain.

India will start their campaign against England in Amstelveen, Netherlands on July 3 and there is a lot of excitement among the players at the national camp at the SAI Center here.

“The camp is buzzing with enthusiasm and positive energy. The players are training together and there is a real sense of unity between the young players and the senior players,” said goalkeeper Savita.

“Everyone is looking forward to the upcoming matches of the FIH Pro League games in Belgium and the Netherlands as they will really help the team move forward as a unit.

Ahead of the prestigious event, India will compete against hosts Belgium on June 11 and 12. The team will next fly to the Netherlands to face off against Argentina on 18 and 19 June.

After this, the Indian team will face the US on June 21 and 22.

India is currently ranked third in the FIH Pro League table after Argentina and the Netherlands.
