Competition drives innovation, says chief economic advisor

Chief Economic Advisor V Ananth Nageswaran today said competition drives innovation and stressed that there is a difference between competition and free markets.

He was delivering the keynote address at the National Conference on Economics of Competition Law.

He said that regulatory and competition agencies can work in formulating a framework to prevent the creation of barriers in the markets.

He said that competition promotes innovation.

According to him there is always competition between competition regulators and firms and markets.
