Congress alleges irregularities in AI camera project in Kerala

Congress claimed that there was a disturbance in the tender process.

Kasaragod:

The Congress party on Tuesday continued its attack on the Left government in Kerala, alleging irregularities over the Artificial Intelligence (AI) cameras installed as part of the ‘Safe Kerala’ initiative and claimed that the project costing more than Rs 100 crore. Could have been less, it was complete. 232 crores

Addressing the media here, senior Congress leader and former Leader of Opposition in the Kerala Legislative Assembly Ramesh Chennithala claimed that none of the private companies that were technically qualified in the tender process had the requisite experience.

“The Congress party has released several documents that may show irregularities behind the installation of AI cameras as part of the Safe Kerala project,” he added.

The Congress leader claimed that it was clear that SRIT, the company that won the tender for the project, also did not have the requisite experience and had approached some other inexperienced firms to complete the project.

Chennithala alleged, “A project which could have been completed in Rs 100 crore was implemented at a cost of Rs 232 crore. Around Rs 132 crore has now been given to some benami companies and what else can we attribute this to corruption.” Can say.”

He claimed that there were irregularities in the tender process.

The senior Congress leader alleged that even though some documents have been uploaded on Keltron’s website, some important documents are yet to be made public.

Chennithala and other Congress leaders have been alleging irregularities in the tender process by the Left government to set up a fully automated traffic enforcement system.

The Government of Kerala had entered into an agreement with the Kerala State Electronics Development Corporation Limited (KELTRON) for the project in 2020.

Chennithala alleges that KELTRON then awarded the project contract to Bengaluru-based SRIT India Private Limited, but this was in violation of tender norms.

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan had inaugurated the ‘Safe Kerala’ project in April, aimed at reducing road accidents and traffic violations in the state.

Chennithala has also alleged that the common man is being looted to fill the coffers of companies owned by friends and relatives of the ruling Left Front.
