Congress attacks BJP over Kashmir files, but its MP introduces private bill for rehabilitation of Kashmiri Pandits

Even as the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party are embroiled in a fight over the film ‘The Kashmir Files’, the Congress lashed out at PM Narendra Modi and the BJP for “recourse to politics on Kashmiri Pandits” and “dividing the valley”. Congress MP Vivek Tankha of Rajya Sabha has given a twist in the drama.

He has introduced the Private Member Bill for the rehabilitation of Kashmiri Pandits.

Called the Kashmiri Pandits (Resettlement, Rehabilitation, Rehabilitation and Resettlement) Bill, it seeks to create social, political and economic conditions that are conducive to an environment of security and respect for all domiciled people. Kashmiri Pandit Either living in camps or willing to return and resettle.

The bill suggests that the government will take appropriate measures which may include granting minority status Kashmiri Pandit National Commission for Minorities, as per clause (c) of Section 2 20 of the Act 1992, within two months from the date of commencement of this Act and also provide all affirmative confirmation to them to ensure social, political and economic rehabilitation.

It also recommends declaring Kashmiri Pandits “Victims of the Massacre” and a change in their official nomenclature to ‘Internal Displaced Persons’.

The bill, a copy of which is available with news18.com, has been introduced by Tankha in his personal capacity and it is up to the Speaker of the House to grant permission to discuss it.

Interestingly, the bill makes a point that the BJP has made – “The Congress governments He did nothing to make Pandits feel safe in the state.

Tankha said, “Our family is pained by what happened to Kashmiri Pandits in the Valley since the 1990s. In fact, Madhya Pradesh was the second state after Maharashtra to reserve seats for Kashmiri Pandits in medical, engineering and other faculties. After 32 years there is a sign of justice. The Bill seeks to address the issues affecting Pandits.

During this, Delhi CM Arvind KejriwalIn his assembly speech, attacked the PM and the BJP for spending more time promoting the film and asked them to use the money for the rehabilitation of Pandits.

The Center is contemplating elections in Jammu and Kashmir, in which delimitation is in full swing. The BJP hopes to reach out to its traditional Hindu vote bank and try to make inroads in an area with a large Muslim population.

Meanwhile, the Congress is stuck in a quagmire. While it doesn’t want to give up its stand “Politicization of Film”It cannot even afford to publicly oppose or oppose the bill introduced by Tankha for fear of being on the wrong side of the debate.

Silence seems to be the safest option for now.
