New Delhi As the three-day Chintan Shivir, a major event of the Congress party, comes to an end, former Congress President Rahul Gandhi stressed on the need to mend the broken ties between the people and the party.
Several factors summed up the three-day event, where important decisions were taken keeping in mind the successive electoral defeats to the grand old party in recent times.

“Our focus should be external. We have to see people and go to people. We have to go to people without thinking twice. The relationship we had is broken. Meanwhile, Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi announced a nationwide campaign called ‘Bharat Jodi Yatra’ from Kashmir to Kanyakumari, marking the beginning of this Gandhi Jayanti.
Rahul Gandhi, a 51-year-old Lok Sabha member, said the fight has now escalated against the ideology, not just one party. He said the regional parties lacked the ideological clarity to fight the challenges thrown at them by the BJP-RSS.
“There are great forces against us. We are not fighting against just one political party but against all institutions and biggest crony capitalists of India. But don’t panic. I am there with you. I have never taken a single rupee from corruption. I have not taken even a single rupee from Mother India. BJP does not talk about regional parties. BJP knows that regional parties have their place but due to lack of ideology they cannot defeat BJP. In college Congress Can give competition to BJP. This is the fight for India’s future.”
At the end of the three-day contemplation camp, Gandhi said the focus was to “change the nature of Congress”.

The three-day event saw heated debate among party members in six panels.

The Congress Working Committee (CWC) gave its nod to reforms for wider representation of people below the age of 50 and the introduction of ‘one person, one post’ and ‘one family, one ticket’ rules.
Gandhi described the reservation of seats for the youth as a “good idea” and said, “One person per family should get tickets. We should limit the number of family members.”
Sonia Gandhi on Sunday also announced several new measures to rebuild the party. These included the creation of a task force to drive internal reforms in the party, an advisory group that would meet regularly to discuss political issues.
