New Delhi: Three people were arrested on Saturday in connection with the attack on a Congress-Left Front delegation in Tripura’s Sipahijala district.

The police escort team swung into action and the delegation members were safely rescued.
A senior police officer said, “Steps are being taken to nab others involved in the attack. An FIR has been registered in connection with the incident.”

Kerala CM condemns the attack
Chief Minister of Kerala Pinarayi Vijayan Condemned the attack on fact-finding teams of opposition MPs and MLAs in Tripura and alleged that “Sangh Parivar goons” were behind the “heinous” act.
In a tweet last night, he said the incident highlights the need to restore law and order in the north-eastern state.

He further urged the democratic forces to unite to defeat this reign of terror in Tripura.
Police mute spectator: Congress
Accusing the police of being mute spectators, the Congress general secretary and Rajya Sabha MP How Venugopal Strongly condemned the attack on Friday.

According to the Election Commission of India, the saffron party won 32 seats with a vote share of around 39 percent. Tipra Motha Party came second by winning 13 seats.
The Communist Party of India (Marxist) got 11 seats while the Congress got only three seats.
