Nobody can change the Constitution, it won’t happen even if Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar were to come and insist on it, Modi said

Taking Bharatiya Janata Party’s Lok Sabha 2024 election campaign a notch higher in Chhattisgarh, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Tuesday, launched a scathing attack against the Congress saying the grand old party considers itself bigger than Lord Ram.

Addressing an election rally in Janjgir-Champa, PM Modi said practising appeasement and vote bank politics is in Congress’ DNA.

“People in Congress used to taunt us. In every election, we were asked when would the Ram temple be built. We told them the date, and time and even sent them an invitation, but they refused the invitation for the Pran Pratishtha ceremony,” the Prime Minister said.

“Congress leaders consider themselves above Lord Ram and denied invitation for Pran Pratishtha at Ram Temple. Is it not a disrespect for Chhattisgarh? It is ‘Nanihal of Lord Ram’. Is it not a disrespect of Mata Shabri? Congress keeps on doing appeasement politics, it is in their DNA,” he added.

Stepping up his attack, PM Modi accused Congress and other opposition parties of “dividing the country in the name of religion.”

“They will not hesitate to take the rights of Dalits, poor and Adivasis for appeasement politics. Our priority is poor, youth, women… When a tribal woman became our country’s President, Congress insulted her… A big part of the country has rejected Congress; tomorrow that party will reject Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar’s Constitution,” he said.

Nobody can change the Constitution, it won’t happen even if Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar were to come and insist on it, he added.

He also reiterated the public welfare works undertaken by his government in the last decade and said, “In the last 10 years, the country has moved forward but a lot of work is still left. Since (CM) Vishnu Dev is here, I have to do a lot of work here.”

Taking a jibe at the ‘dynasty politics’ of Congress, the PM said, “Before 2014, for nearly 60 years, a single family of Congress ran the government either directly or through remote… Others work for their family, but for me, you are my family. I request you take out time to vote for Modi on May 7.”

“Congress people say that they will break Modi’s head. As long as the mothers and sisters of my country are with me, no one can do anything to Modi. These mothers and sisters are my ‘Raksha Kavach’,” he added.
