Congress MP Digvijay Singh has threatened to stage a sit-in outside his official residence if he does not meet Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan till January 20 to discuss the problems of those affected by Tem and Suthalia. irrigation projects. In a letter addressed to Chouhan on Sunday, Singh claimed that the CM was not giving him appointment for the past one month, which he said shows “insensitive attitude towards project affected persons and farmers”.

Singh said that if the Chief Minister does not meet the Chief Minister by January 20, he will have to stage a dharna with the affected farmers outside Chouhan’s official residence. People were affected by the two dams, but the CM did not respond.

Singh claimed that thousands of acres of land would be submerged due to the Tem and Suthalia projects, while many villages would be partially or completely submerged. He said that very little compensation is being given to the affected people in Bhopal, Rajgarh and Vidisha districts. “I will bring 15 farmers each affected by the two projects during a meeting with you by following all the COVID-19 protocols,” Singh said in the letter.

Madhya Pradesh Home Minister and government spokesperson Narottam Mishra on Monday slammed Singh over his claims. “Recently, there was hailstorm in Madhya Pradesh. Was the lion seen anywhere? He is never visible in times of disaster or crisis. MP is witnessing the third wave of the coronavirus pandemic. I want to ask whether Singh was ever seen distributing food in any hospital. He also used to write letters to former Chief Minister Kamal Nath and former Forest Minister Umang Singhar.”

He said Singh’s stand was political hypocrisy. “If he wants, he can always easily meet the chief minister as Chouhan is visiting the affected agricultural areas,” he said. He can also inspect the affected crops, quipped Mishra.
