Congress, other members cut cake in protest against BCC. Hubli News – Times of India

Belagavi: Belagavi Municipal Corporation (bcc) elected representative from CongressThe Maharashtra Integration Committee (MES) and independents on Tuesday cut the cake in an unusual protest to celebrate a full year in public office without taking oath.
The BCC elections were held on 6 September last year. In House Out of 58 seats, BJP secured majority with 30 seats. But the elected members have not yet officially assumed office as they have not been administered the oath. Although they are elected by the people, they have not got power because the mayor has not been elected. The mayor has to take the oath.
Fed up with the delay, over 20 elected members of Congress, MES, AIMIM and independent candidates cut the cake on Tuesday. When BCC commissioner Rudresh Ghali did not allow them to bring the cake inside the building, the members put it on a scooter and cut it outside the building.
Hubli-Dharwad and Kalaburagi municipal corporations have their own mayors and deputy mayors. Recently, KPCC working president Satish Jarkiholi blamed city BJP MLAs – Abhay Patil and Anil Benke – for delaying the mayoral election in BCC.
AAP leader Rajkumar Topannavar tweeted: “Today BJP MLAs of Belagavi city completed 1 year as Mayor and Deputy Mayor keeping councilors out of power. BJP believes in minimum government maximum corruption.
