Sharing the development on Twitter, party leaders Randeep Surjewala Said that this decision has been taken to facilitate the reorganization of state units.

The Congress unit is headed by Navjot Singh Sidhu in Punjab, Ganesh Godiyal is the party chief in Uttarakhand, Girish Chodankar is the party chief in Goa, Loken Singh in Manipur and Ajay Kumar Lallu in Uttar Pradesh.
Moments after Surjewala’s tweet, Goa Congress chief Ganesh Godiyal tweeted that he was resigning. “Taking moral responsibility for the party’s defeat in the state assembly elections, I have submitted my resignation today.”

CWC meeting

Sources said the meeting discussed the performance in each constituency of UP, where the Congress won only two seats out of 403 and garnered 2.33% vote share. Sources said the party will prepare its roadmap for the state where it had contested after many years without any alliance.

In the recently concluded assembly elections, the Congress failed to oust the BJP from Goa, Manipur, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand, and could not retain power in Punjab, which was defeated by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).
