According to the health ministry, India reported 7,189 fresh coronavirus infections and 387 new deaths, taking the national tally to 3,47,79,815 and the total death toll to 4,79,520. Active cases stand at 77,032, while the country’s total cases of Omicron, the latest coronavirus version, have risen to 415.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced in the evening that India will start giving booster doses to health and frontline workers and people above 60 from January 10. He also said that from January 3, vaccination will start for children in the age group of 15-18 years.
