According to an update by the Union Health Ministry on Tuesday, India reported 4,369 fresh Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours. Active cases now stand at 46,347.
Under the nationwide COVID-19 vaccination campaign, 215.47 crore vaccine doses have been administered. Of these, 94.55 crores are second doses and 18.53 crores are precautionary shots.
According to the health ministry data, the daily positivity rate was recorded at 1.25% and the weekly positivity rate was 1.73%.
India conducted 3,50,468 COVID tests in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of tests conducted so far to 88.99 crore.
The data shows that 5,178 recoveries were recorded in the 24-hour period, taking the cumulative recoveries to 4,39,30,417. Right now the recovery rate is 98.71%.
On Sunday, India’s COVID vaccination coverage crossed the 2.14 billion mark. More than 40 million teens have been given their first doses of the vaccine since it opened to 12-14 year olds on March 16.
Bharat Biotech has also sought the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) for the Phase III study of intranasal vaccine in the age group of 5-18 years. The regulator had also approved the vaccine for primary immunization of people above 18 years of age.
Intranasal vaccine is a heterogeneous booster dose. Clinical trials were conducted to evaluate iNCOVACC as the primary dosing schedule, as a heterogeneous booster dose for subjects who had previously received 2 doses of two commonly administered COVID vaccines in India.
