Covid-19 scares fourth wave: Delhi’s daily count doubles in last 24 hours

New Delhi: Delhi’s daily COVID-19 count has doubled in the last 24 hours with 1,934 fresh cases being reported from the capital. According to the Delhi Health Department, the national capital recorded zero deaths on Thursday (June 23), while the positivity rate stood at 8.10 per cent. With this, the cumulative positive cases rose to 19,27,394, which includes 5,755 active cases. A positivity rate of 8.10 per cent was observed out of 23,879 tests conducted in the last 24 hours. In addition, 1,233 new discharges were recorded by the government data, taking the total recovery in the city to 18,95,397.

Meanwhile, the death toll stood at 26,242, as the city had reported zero fatalities. The case fatality rate is 1.36 percent. On the COVID-19 vaccination front, 26,121 beneficiaries were vaccinated in the last 24 hours. The cumulative dosage provided so far is 3,47,58,218. On Wednesday, Delhi reported 928 fresh Covid-19 cases, the lowest in a week, with a positivity rate of 7.08 per cent and three more fatalities.

In view of the increase in the cases of COVID-19 in India, Union Health Minister Dr Mansukh Mandaviya on Thursday reviewed the status of COVID-19 and vaccination in the country.
