Cracks again seen on Joshimath-Badrinath highway before Chardham Yatra, Chamoli DM orders terror team for investigation

Cracks have been seen at many places on the Joshimath-Badrinath highway ahead of the Chardham Yatra in Uttarakhand. As per the report, such cracks were found at many places between Joshimath to Marwari along with the announcement of the dates for the opening of the doors of Shri Kedarnath Dham by the Kedarnath Temple Committee. Chamoli District Magistrate (DM) Himanshu Khurana said that an investigation team has been sent on the tour. At the same time, according to the local people, such cracks have been found at 10 places.

Actually, the Uttarakhand government has announced the Chardham Yatra on Saturday. The doors of Kedarnath temple will be opened on 25 April and the doors of Badrinath Dham on 27 April. In such a situation, cracks on the highway can become a big danger for the passengers. It is also feared that the number of cracks in this area may increase further.

Chamoli’s Dame Himanshu Khurana said that cracks have appeared in the road from JP to Marwari on the Badrinath Highway. “The Border Roads Organization (BRO) has been instructed to test the crack and take agency measures,” Khurana said. According to DM Khurana, residents of Joshimath “complained about cracks in some houses”.

Hundreds of residents were evacuated to safer places in Joshimath after cracks appeared in several houses. The Uttarakhand government has first announced a relief package worth crores of rupees for the affected people of Joshimath.

Earlier, 868 buildings have been damaged due to the collapse in Joshimath. Of these, 181 buildings are in vulnerable areas. The demolition work of Hotel Mount View and Malari Inn is in the final stages. Chamoli DM further informed that total 878 members of 243 disaster affected are in relief camps. Taking them instead of food, drink and medicines. Relief amount of 515.80 lakh has been given to these crores of people. To fulfill those most relief, rehabilitation and natural scenery.

In January, Uttarakhand’s special Pushkar Singh Dhami released a relief package for about 3000 people affected by the landslide in Joshimath. The State Disaster Authority had given Rs 50,000 to each family as one-time special grant and transportation of attachments.

At the same time, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had expressed concern over the situation in Joshimath. He had extended all possible help to the State Administration for relief and rescue during telephonic conversation with Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami.
