It is generally believed that athletes or sportspersons are very fit and hence cannot have heart disease. But, according to the experts out there, intense training can sometimes be counter-productive. Overtraining or a sudden increase in physical activity can cause physical stress on the body, which can increase the risk of a heart attack.

To increase energy before a match or activity, some players also use steroids which increase the risk of heart disease, including heart attacks.

It is important to note that heart attacks are relatively rare in athletes. However, when they do occur, they can be particularly shocking because we often assume that athletes are in excellent physical health. “It is important for athletes to be aware of their risk factors and take steps to reduce their risk of heart disease, such as maintaining a healthy diet, getting regular exercise, and avoiding smoking and other unhealthy habits,” the health experts said.
