Cryptowire Launches India’s First Cryptocurrency Index

Crypto super app, CryptoWire, on Monday said it has launched India’s first cryptocurrency index, IC15, which tracks the top 15 global cryptocurrencies in terms of market capitalization and liquidity.

According to the company, the IC15 index is a rules-based broad market index by market capitalization that tracks and measures the performance of the top 15 widely traded liquid cryptocurrencies listed on the world’s major crypto exchanges.

The 15 cryptocurrencies include Bitcoin, Ethereum, Binance Coin, Solana, Cardano, Ripple, Terra, Dogecoin and Shiba Inu.

Cryptowire’s Index Governance Committee consisting of domain experts, industry professionals and academia will maintain, monitor and administer the index, rebalancing it quarterly.

The base price of the index is fixed at 10,000 and the base date is 1 April 2018. As of 1 January 2022, the IC15 index had an open price of 71,463.30 points.

According to Cryptowire, the IC15 Index has been designed with the aim of offering an easy to follow solution for a diversified portfolio, acting as a performance benchmark for fund managers and facilitating accurate replication of the index. Provides and contains the preferred index for building the index. Linked products such as index funds, exchange traded funds, etc.
