CTET 2021: Delhi Police officers, 2 ex-paramilitary forces, 18 arrested for misconduct

According to police officials, the gang showed a question paper with answer key to the candidates before the exam and extorted around Rs 2.50 lakh to Rs 3 lakh from them. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Noida) Rajesh S said that the lid blew off after some of the CTET exam candidates were found in suspicious condition by a police patrol near a hotel on Thursday morning.

When questioned, they told the police that they were staying at a hotel in Sector 71 of Sector 58 police station area, but could not properly answer further questions, raising doubts. “We have earlier arrested people in connection with malpractices during the recruitment examinations conducted by the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) and registered at least eight FIRs related to the examinations held in Noida,” DCP Rajesh told reporters here.

Although the important thing in this case is that the examination center was not in Noida, but still these candidates had come and stayed here a day before. Two people from Sonipat in Haryana had also brought laptops to the hotel. Police said this raised suspicions of examination-related malpractice. Later, evidence suggested their involvement in misconduct and 18 people, including five women CTET candidates and a dozen middlemen linked to the racket, were arrested early in the morning, the official said.

He said the evidence included details of monetary transactions between the accused persons and their WhatsApp chats. Rajesh, however, said that more details are yet to come out as a full investigation in the matter is still pending and the Noida Police has written to CBSE to apprise it of the situation.
