Cuddalore DMK MP surrenders in worker’s murder case

DMK’s TRVS Ramesh was named as the prime accused in the 60-year-old’s murder on September 20 and the CB-CID launched a search for him.

Cuddalore MP TRVS Ramesh (DMK), who was booked by the CB-CID police in connection with the murder of a worker at a cashew processing unit owned by him at Panickanakuppam, appeared before the Judicial Magistrate Court I at Panruthi near here. surrendered. Monday.

CB-CID Police had already arrested five people, all employees of cashew processing unit, for the murder of 60-year-old K Govindarasu of Melmampattu on September 20.

Mr. Ramesh was named as the prime accused in the case and the CB-CID started a search for him.

According to the police, the victim was working as a laborer in a cashew processing unit for the past seven years. On September 20, Govindarasu was returning home from work when an employee searched him and accused him of stealing 7 kg of cashew nuts. Govindarasu was allegedly assaulted on the premises and later taken to Kadampuliyur police station to lodge a complaint.

The station house officer noticed bleeding marks on Govindarasu’s face and asked the complainants, Kandavelu and Shanmugam, to be taken to the hospital for treatment. However, the duo reportedly took the victim back to the cashew processing unit. Govindarasu was found dead under suspicious circumstances in the unit a few hours later.

The CB-CID police may take Mr. Ramesh into custody for questioning.

‘Hurt by vendetta politics’

In a statement issued ahead of the surrender, Mr Ramesh said he was hurt over the incident by political parties indulging in “vendetta politics”.

“I am really saddened that such political gains are being sought by political parties when an FIR has been registered against me by CB-CID in the murder of a worker in my cashew processing unit.”

“As an honest worker of DMK and having great respect for our leader, I am surrendering before the court,” he said. This was only to prevent unnecessary charges being leveled against the party. I will prove legally with evidence that the complaint against me is baseless and I will prove my innocence.
