Customers should report unauthorized transactions immediately, suggests SBI

Recently, the cases of cyber crime and digital fraud are increasing in the country. From phishing and ransomware attacks to identity theft, there are many ways a cybercriminal can prey on vulnerable Internet users.

Hence, it is important to protect yourself from such cyber threats, especially while using digital payment platforms and online banking services.

State Bank of India (SBI) recently suggested its customers to immediately report any unauthorized transactions in their accounts to check rising cyber crimes.

The country’s largest lender emphasized that customers should immediately report unauthorized transactions so that they can be addressed promptly.

SBI recently said, “Unauthorized transactions, if any, should be immediately reported on toll-free number 18001-2-3-4 so that appropriate action can be taken in time.” Press release,

Last month, SBI Chairman Dinesh Kumar Khara insisted that customers should be informed so that they can report any unauthorized transactions to the bank.

Chairman advised SBI customers to beware of cyber frauds and said that customer service should be given priority to deal with such issues, PTI informed of.

According to SBI, apart from dialing the toll free number, customers can also register their complaints related to internet banking, ATM, mobile banking and BHIM SBI Pay services through the bank’s website.

The bank said that in case of any financial fraud involving an SBI account, the customer should inform the bank at the earliest as the longer the time taken to notify the bank, the greater the risk of financial loss to the customer.

Once the Bank receives a complaint about unauthorized transactions, it will take immediate and adequate steps to prevent such fraudulent transactions.

The bank also ensures that the particular channel through which the transaction took place is blocked after receiving the complaint.

State Bank Of India Also sends an SMS or email to the customer mentioning the registered complaint number and other details. A complaint received from a customer is resolved within 90 days.
