Customs seized drugs worth Rs 46 crore in two separate cases at Mumbai airport

Customs at Mumbai airport have seized 4.47 kg of heroin valued at Rs 31.29 crore and 1.596 kg of cocaine valued at Rs 15.96 crore in two separate cases. Two people have been arrested in the case.

In the first case, Indian nationals who landed at Mumbai airport on Kenya Airways from Johannesburg via Nairobi were stopped on the basis of passenger profiles. During investigation, 4470 grams of heroin was recovered from the passenger which he had cleverly hidden in 12 documentary folder covers.
 
A thin layer of heroin packed in a polythene cover was kept inside the folder cover. The market value of the seized drugs is approximately Rs 31.29 crore. The passenger has been arrested and sent to attachment custody for 14 days.

In another case, an Indian passenger who had landed in Mumbai on an Ethiopian Airlines flight from Addis Ababa was stopped during a baggage hold on the Green Channel. During baggage the officer notices suspicious shade with green color in the buttons. There were also various kinds of excitement happening in the buttons and the clothes were coming unusually close to each other.
 
On suspicion, a detailed examination of the luggage of the passenger was carried out and 1596 grams of cocaine was found in his possession. Its illegal market value is around Rs 15.96 crore. The cocaine was cleverly hidden by making cavities in the buttons of the kurtas and in the bags of the ladies. At 14 days old, Cyrer was arrested and sent to visitor’s custody. Further investigation is on.
