Even though the impact of the Covid pandemic is over, cinema-goers have not returned to theaters for Bollywood movies. Many movies which were made to become a blockbuster failed miserably at the box office after their release.

reason for failure

measure of success

in a new way

“We have to break and rebuild, rebuild everything. We have to start all over again,” says Kumar.

Akshay Kumar reiterated that the film industry needs to break down and rebuild itself in order to cater to the audience. Akshay Kumar and Ram Charan Agreed that the answer to success lies in reinventing itself in the film industry.

He further added that the film industry also needs to bridge the gap between regional cinema where people differentiate as Bollywood films and south films. Kumar and Ram Charan said that the film industry needs to come together to improve the quality of Indian cinema.

slash prices

At the summit, Akshay Kumar said that there is a need to reduce the ticket prices by at least 30-40% for making a film and thereafter.

He said that actors need to take less money, ticket prices need to be reduced and the total money needed to make a cinema for cinema-goers to return to cinema halls needs to be reduced. “If you want the public to come back to the theatre, you have to do it,” he said.

muti-cast ensemble

Akshay Kumar further said that any film will reach the ‘epic’ standard only if it is multi-cast. Taking the example of Marvel movies, Kumar said, “Look at Hollywood, the kind of movies they are coming out with. It’s Marvel movies where everybody comes together and people want to watch it. They want to experience and enjoy.” . Audiences want story and more. They don’t just want to pay their money, they want a value for it.”

Ram Charan Agree. “You have to rethink and restructure the entire game going forward, from the script to the showrunners. Everyone has to pitch in. After all, a good subject and a good script can’t be stopped. People will come to the theatre,” Charan said.

Meet changing audience preferences

Both Akshay Kumar and Ram Charan said that the film industry needs to accept the changing tastes and viewing habits of its audience and work around them. From massive OTT platforms to larger-than-life films, both the actors stressed that audience preferences have changed.

“It is very difficult at this point of time. People need to see a larger than life, epic film like RRR or Sooryavanshi… I think people want to see that big cinema and we have to try to create that. You need OTT And the cinema-going audience has to be catered to as well. I hope one day people will come for all kinds of cinema.”

just call it ‘Indian Cinema’

“This whole thing of Telugu cinema, Tamil cinema, Hindi cinema, Gujarati cinema – why can’t we call it Indian cinema? I would prefer it that way.” Ram Charan noted the incident when Akshay Kumar told the audience that though at one point it was Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan, now all the actors have become one unit – the Indian cinema unit.

“Of course, Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan ji also traveled and did very well. My father also did some films. But today, we have become one entity – the Indian cinema unit,” said Ram Charan.

Several Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada films have achieved national success over the years. RRR – In which Charan and NTR Jr starred, collected 1,200 crore at the box office – was only the latest film in this string of successes.
