Speaking to the South West News Service, Meena says she beats her pig to death and even hugs it to sleep on the bed

Dogs and cats are the most common choices for pets in the home, with birds such as parrots also being an option. But is there a hard and fast rule that says your pet’s choices are limited to only them? no right? So, it should come as no surprise that a California woman has a pet pig and showers it with lots of love, even sleeping in the same bed.

Meena Alali, 25, bought a piglet from a farm in March last year, which she named Merlin. Meena says she felt an instant connection to Merlin. The Vietnamese pig weighs about 15 kg and can be up to 3 feet tall. Speaking to the South West News Service, Meena says that she loves her pig very much and even hugs him to sleep on the bed. Meena trains Merlin to turn on and off the power buttons. Apart from this, according to Meena, she has also learned to dance, sit and perform high five.

Meena started posting videos of the 11kg hog on her TikTok account and quickly gathered a million followers from animal lovers around the world. Because of Merlin’s ability to dance and high five among other things, TikTok fans have often dubbed him the smartest pig in the world.

Mina bought buttons that can be programmed with pre-recorded phrases online to teach Merlin to speak. Each button has a different message that Merlin can use to interact with Mina. For example, he may ask for food or drink, go for a walk, or even sing and dance with her. By rewarding him with cookies and kisses when he completes a job or trick, Mina claimed that it never took more than a day to train him.

Animal lover Mina was thrilled to welcome young pig Merlin into her home, where she quickly befriended her two one-year-old mice, Millie and Miracle. After seeing a cute hog video online, she decided she was finally financially comfortable enough to decide to buy one and drove four hours to pick up Marilyn from a farm. It had been years since he stopped owning an omnivorous, hoofed mammal.
