Cyclone Hamoon LIVE Updates: Cyclone Hamoon intensified into a ‘severe’ cyclonic storm, said IMD.
The Cyclonic storm has been named ‘Hamoon’ by Iran. The word ‘Hamoon’ is a Persian word that refers to inland desert lakes or marshlands. They are formed as natural seasonal reservoirs in areas adjoining the Helmand basin.
“Cyclonic storm ‘Hamoon’ intensified into a severe cyclonic storm over the northwest Bay of Bengal,” said IMD.
The IMD also issued a warning that sea conditions will remain turbulent until this evening and cautioned fishermen to avoid venturing into the sea during this period.
