Dangerously bent tree was cut in Mandaveli

Recently he breathed a sigh of relief when some activists landed near an apartment complex on 6th Trust Cross Street in Mandaveli with huge contents. Anyone who had taken this stretch of road knew why this operation was important.

More than three months later, a team of workers was deployed to cut down huge branches of a tree that leaned precariously in an apartment complex.

The problem started during the heavy rains that lashed the city in the last days of last year. Some branches of the tree were leaning dangerously at the entrance of the apartment, causing concern to the residents.

Some branches fell right above the laundry cart, luckily it happened during the night.

“A half-broken branch was hanging precariously at the entrance of the apartment for several months. And despite repeated reminders, nothing worked again,” says Saroj Satyanarayana, a resident of Second and Sixth Trust Cross Street, who first complained to the Greater Chennai Corporation and then to the Mylapore MLA. Saroj says, “I was following it regularly, but there was no response from the authorities.”

In the end, K. The Mylapore Residents Welfare Association’s eco group led by Viswanathan swung into action to push the officials. The new councilor and park supervisor of ward 126 sent the employees to ax the hanging branches.
