Billionaire Indian industrialist Gautam Adani, who recently attended the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, called for global cooperation rather than cooperation to meet the needs and challenges on matters including the COVID pandemic, sustainability and geopolitics. Emphasis on need. Adani in his blog ‘The Paradoxes at Davos 2022’ said that there is a need to focus on being self-reliant or the call given by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Atmanirbhar Bharat.

The Indian industrialist also pointed out that there is cause for concern for the ‘unilateral’ participation of the participating countries, highlighting the low participation of countries including China, Japan and South Korea in the forum.

“To be honest, this is a cause for one-sided concern. It probably reflects the growing closeness that has become characteristic of the global response to the pandemic, as countries retreat from their borders,” he said.

Gautam Adani in his blog also touched on the continuous lectures of developed countries for developing economies on climate change.

Adani wrote, “Developed nations that were setting goals and giving harsh lectures about climate change to the rest of the world now seem less insensitive as their own energy security is at risk and prices spiral. People are willing to accept that there has been an overswing in favor of green solutions and technologies that were still in their infancy and their fragility has been fully exposed by the crisis in Ukraine.”

Speaking on the global response to COVID-19, Adani said it was a strange mix of ingenuity and global cooperation on the one hand and blatant selfishness on the other.

Sharing about his interactions with other delegates on stage, Adani mentioned that a lot was focused on defence.

Adani shared that most of the delegates he discussed with said that a new and more sophisticated arms race is now coming.

Alliances will be built around defense agreements and many countries may prioritize defense manufacturing and procurement as a non-negotiable aspect of self-reliance, he said.

Amid such scenarios, Adani said one of the best ways to move forward would be to heed the Atmanirbhar Bharat or the self-reliant call by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Adani wrote, “I am confident that our Prime Minister’s Atmanirbhar Bharat plan is the catalyst that India needs to try and strengthen self-reliance in all sectors – be it vaccination, defense or semiconductors.”

“India has a right to focus on self-reliance, while also seeking to provide an alternative to a world in need of alternatives. If there is to be a change in the world order, it must be one that is based on respectful multipolarity. The world doesn’t need to be flat. Not when flatness really means that the world has been forcefully flattened. Instead, let’s look for a more stable world order built around countries that are confident, self-sufficient And be ready to talk to each other. Mutual respect instead of coercion and condescension. This is a contradiction we must resolve,” he wrote.

“Therefore, as a response to global conditions, I am confident that our Prime Minister’s Atmanirbhar Bharat plan is the catalyst that India needs to strengthen and strengthen self-reliance in all sectors – be it vaccination, defense or semiconductors. It is clear, in these uncertain times, that there is no substitute for effective, confident self-reliance and we are now in this era of self-reliance,” Adani said.

“… As we go through this process, there will be pushback – and we will get into controversies in other parts of the world. So be it. Many will try to stop us from building semiconductor plants. Many will stop us from making big investments. The share of our GDP in defence. Our theories will come under criticism. What we should note is that many of the emission reduction targets for India are those who are borne in small numbers. shy away from accepting the disproportionate responsibility that has taken. Developed countries for the climate crisis. In other words, it is far easier to talk than to talk…” he wrote on LinkedIn.
