DC vs KKR 2021: Kolkata Knight Riders recharge in line with Delhi Capitals’ maiden IPL title aspirations. Cricket News – Times of India

Sharjah: In pursuit of winning the first IPL title Delhi Capitals a. Will face another litmus test as Kolkata Knight Riders A unit full of optimism when the two sides face off in the second qualifier on Wednesday.
Delhi Capitals failed in their first major Test when they lost to Chennai Super Kings in the first qualifier and another defeat would mean no more tests for a strong team led by India’s wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant.
Two-time winners KKR will undoubtedly gain confidence from their win in Monday’s Eliminator against Royal Challengers Bangalore that dashed Virat Kohli’s hopes of winning an IPL title with their long-standing franchise.

If the emphasis is on pace and peaking at the right time then KKR will certainly envision their chances in their next outing irrespective of the resources and depth in the lineup of their opponents.
DC, who topped the league stage with 10 wins for a total of 20 points, are well aware of the task that awaits them.
Ever since Australian great Ricky Ponting took over as their coach, Delhi Capitals have grown from strength to strength as they finished second runners-up in the 2019 edition before reaching the summit clash last year.

The target is to do a better performance this year and win the title.
They are one of the most balanced sides in the tournament, with a formidable batting line-up and a powerful pace attack aided by experienced spinners including Ravichandran Ashwin.
In Shikhar Dhawan, Prithvi Shaw and Shreyas Iyer, Delhi boast of a solid top-order. Pant, along with Shimron Hetmyer, looks after the middle order even as they miss out on the skills of the injured Marcus Stoinis.
Dhawan (618) was the second highest run-scorer in 2020 and has already scored 551 runs this season. His opening partner Shaw is also showing a good game against CSK.

On the bowling front, the South African pace duo of Kagiso Rabada (2020 Purple Cap winner) and Enrique Nortje have proved to be a dream pairing after taking 52 wickets together in 2020.
Then there is pacer Avesh Khan, who has taken 23 wickets so far this season of the tournament, and will back himself against KKR to add to his tally.
DC have registered five victories in the UAE leg of the tournament, but their one loss here has come against KKR, and what better opportunity for them to take revenge than in the IPL playoffs.
However, where is it easier to do Eoin MorganThe Gulf is enjoying a massive turnaround after suffering a disastrous first half in India earlier this year.
They managed to reach the playoffs at the expense of five-time defending champions Mumbai Indians, thanks to their superior net run-rate.
Things took a turn for the better after the Kolkata team landed in the UAE and if their performance against RCB is any indication, KKR are in a hurry to go and would like to do more than finish their campaign in the playoffs.
On the turn of the pitch offering, KKR’s spin duo of Varun Chakraborty (16 wickets so far) and Sunil Narine, who are on a high after their stellar all-round performance against RCB, will test Delhi’s formidable batting lineup.
Batting has not been KKR’s biggest strength this season and DC will look to capitalize on that.
Against a potent bowling attack, Shubman Gill, Venkatesh Iyer, Rahul Tripathi (the team’s top scorer with 393 runs so far this season) and Morgan himself will have to rise to the occasion if KKR is to make it to the final, where Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s three-time winner Chennai Super Kings is waiting.
