DC vs KKR: Shreyas Iyer demands fearless cricket from his team as KKR lose 5th match in a row

Kolkata Knight Riders crashed out for their fifth successive defeat in IPL 2022 but Shreyas Iyer was in no mood to excuse and urged his team to play fearless cricket. on Thursday, KKR lost to Delhi Capitals To reach the playoffs by four wickets and now is a tough task.

KKR made three changes in their side on Thursday – Aaron Finch came back into the XI, while Harshit Rana and Baba Indrajit made their debuts followed by Sheldon Jackson, Shivam Mavi and Varun Chakravarthy.

KKR got off to a bad start. Aaron Finch and Venkatesh Iyer flopped on top while Sunil Narine and Andre Russell were dismissed without scoring. Shreyas Iyer said that KKR need to go back to the drawing board now.

We started really slow and lost some early wickets. It was holding (the pitch) a bit, but we didn’t get a good score on the board,” Shreyas told Star Sports.

“There is no real excuse, we have to go back and assess where things are going wrong. A lot is going to change and change, it has become difficult to establish the right combination, not even all the injuries are helping. We need to stay together, play some fearless cricket, don’t be conservative with the bat.”

Shreyas Iyer said that KKR need to show some faith now as only five matches are left for them this season.

“We have five more matches left.. We need to play well, show faith and give something back to the team and the management, forget the past, start afresh and return our instincts.

“You need to sit back and think where is it going wrong, can’t be overconfident, give your best, if we still lose, that’s fine. Umesh starts with a wicket, but 11 runs in the over, I thought the pace has changed. But he has given us great moments this season and has been very impressive as well.”

Inconsistent KKR fail

Kolkata Knight Riders have now lost five matches in a row and they will be worried about their plight. He made three changes on Thursday but his luck didn’t change.

Aaron Finch came back into the playing XI but was dismissed for a poor shot, while Venkatesh Iyer and Andre Russell disappointed with their put shot selections against Delhi Capitals.

Shreyas Iyer scored 42, Nitish Rana scored a half-century and Rinku Singh played a useful cameo but those efforts were not enough.

Umesh Yadav was the bowler taking 3 wickets for 24 runs in 4 overs for KKR, but he did not get enough support from others. Harshit Rana dismissed Mitchell Marsh on debut while Sunil Narine bowled 4 overs for 19 runs and took a wicket.

KKR used 8 bowlers but in the end, they did not have enough runs to defend.

Knight Riders have several flaws ahead of their match against Rajasthan Royals on Monday.
