‘Deeply saddened’: Nepal PM after Yeti Airlines plane with 72 on board crashes in Pokhara

New Delhi: a Plane carrying 72 people crashed in Pokhara, Nepal on Sunday (January 15, 2023). The aircraft was going from Kathmandu to Pokhara with passengers.

Reacting to the “tragic accident” of Yeti Airlines ANC ATR 72, Nepal’s Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal said he was “deeply saddened”.

“I sincerely appeal to the security personnel, all agencies of the Government of Nepal and the general public to launch an effective rescue,” he said in a tweet.

Yeti Airlines plane crashes in Pokhara, Nepal

As per the latest reports, Yeti Airlines plane with 72 people on board crashed while landing at Pokhara airport.

According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN), the 9N-ANC ATR-72 aircraft of Yeti Airlines took off from Kathmandu at 10:33 am.

While landing at Pokhara airport, the plane crashed on the banks of Seti river between the old airport and the new airport.

There were a total of 68 passengers and four crew members.

Video shows smoke billowing from Pokhara plane crash site

Pictures and videos posted on social media platforms showed plumes of smoke rising from the crash site.

At present, the rescue work is going on and more information about the accident is yet to come.
