Earlier, an Air India Express flight that was traveling from Calicut to Dammam was diverted to Thiruvananthapuram after its tail hit the ground during take-off.

According to officials, Air India Express flight IX 385 on the Kozhikode-Dammam route was diverted to Thiruvananthapuram due to tail-lashing on take-off from Kozhikode airport.

“The flight with 168 passengers on board made a safe landing at Thiruvananthapuram at 12:15 PM and the passengers were disembarked,” the airline said in a statement.

“We are making arrangements to send the passengers to Dammam by an alternate flight which is scheduled to take off from Thiruvananthapuram at 3.30 pm today,” the statement said.

Earlier on February 4, an Air India Express flight from Abu Dhabi to Calicut landed back at Abu Dhabi airport after an engine caught fire soon after take-off.
